Usability of Surveys
User-friendliness is a very important factor for web-surveys. The more user-friendly the web-survey, the more likely respondents are to fill out the questionnaire seriously and completely.
A short survey has a higher chance of completion. This would make it advisable to keep the answers compact (dropdown questions instead of radio buttons, multiple columns of answers, etc).
It is often said that user-friendliness is linked to a large amount of white space, which in turn results in long questionnaires. Is keeping the questions compact detrimental to the quality of response?
