An online monitor offers direct insight in the data that is being gathered. Roughly two monitors can be distinguished.
An Online Monitor for Ad Hoc Research
An Ad hoc monitor is used for isolated research. The
process related data (the number of respondents that have been
invited, the number of people who filled out the survey, etc.) and
the answers that have been given can be examined and analysed. The
monitor can act as a replacement for Excel, SPSS or SAS, although
the number of functions is less extensive.
An Online Monitor for Trend Research
With a trend monitor, what data will be analysed and
presented is usually decided beforehand. The use of a dashboard
allows direct insight in what is taking place. The surveys are
collected continuously. A continuous study offers various
additional possibilities of linking it to company systems, alert
functions, status reports, and the like.
